By Chris Rupar | Florida Today, November 21, 2018, 7:58:25AM An East Naples High School football player says he’s outraged after his father allegedly burned his house down.
The son said he was home for a family event when his father, Dwayne Deen, 59, allegedly began spraying sulfuric acid on the house, which had been a school building.
The incident happened around 3 a.m.
Monday on the 1600 block of N. Wabash Street in East Naples.
Deen’s attorney, Mark Pendergast, said Deen was angry at the family for leaving a party at a nearby restaurant that had been filled with alcohol.
“The defendant was upset because his father left the party with a bottle of beer, a couple bottles of wine and a bottle with the house’s address on it,” Pendergard said in an interview.
Dean told police the party ended with a brawl and that his son, who was in the process of transferring from the Florida High School Athletic Association, left.
“It was a very bad, bad, drunken night,” Penders said.
“He didn’t mean to do it.”
Pendergat says Deen is being charged with a misdemeanor of criminal mischief and is being held on $100,000 bond.
Deans attorney said he plans to appeal the charges.
