The city of Calgary’s new artificial turf plant, Synthetic Greens, has received the green light from city staff.
City officials say they expect the city to begin planting synthetic turf in 2018.
“This is a green light for the city and I’m proud to say that we have now received the approval to begin the process,” Coun.
Rick Hanson said.
“The city’s in the process of moving forward and I think that this is the right thing for the community.”
The city says the new synthetic turf plant will be planted at the corner of Broadway and Main streets in the city’s southwest corner.
The city hopes to have synthetic turf planted by the end of 2019.
The city says it will use the plant to help improve air quality, increase snow clearing, and reduce traffic congestion.
